CalculateTimeToCollision

ID: ADAS/CalculateTimeToCollision

Generates a new signal, which represents the time to collision.

The time to collision is a time-based safety indicator representing the time remaining until a rear-end accident occurs, considering the participants are maintaining a constant course and speed. It may be interpreted as the time that it would take for the following vehicle (here called vehicle under test, VUT) to collide with the leading vehicle (here called target, GVT).

Note: You can use different input signal selections:

  1. Relative velocity of the GVT to the VUT

  2. Absolute velocity of the VUT and absolute velocity of the GVT

In case the velocity signals and distance signal have not the same length and number of samples the signal values will hold until the next value change.

Signals

DistanceVutGvt

Distance between the vehicle under test (VUT) and the target vehicle (GVT)

  • Direction: IN

  • Optional: False

RelVelocity

Relative velocity of the VUT compared to the GVT

  • Direction: IN

  • Optional: True

VutVelocity

Absolute velocity of the VUT

TimeToCollision

The quotient between distance and relative velocity

  • Direction: OUT

Parameters

Limit

Invalid time to collision values are set to the limit (value range is less than 0.0 or greater than the limit parameter; default is 20.0)

  • Direction: IN

Precision

Precision for the time to collision values (default is 2.0)

  • Direction: IN
