How to use configurations?ΒΆ

To configure ecu.test the test bench configuration and the test configuration are essential. The saved configuration files can be found in the workspace in the sub folder Configurations. A TCF file, a TBC file or a pair of both can be selected via context menu or via drag and drop into the Configurations window. By clicking Activate configurations the configurations will be loaded and in the actions window, dependent on the configuration, further tabs are available.

If the configurations are loaded, it is possible to:

  • View and manage the state of the tools in the tool monitor

  • Access configuration dependent Tool categories as tabs in the actions window, e.g. Bus access, Diagnostics or Calibration that contain further test steps for the test case creation

  • Use tool-specific jobs on the Jobs tab

  • Dissolve global constants that are used in the test case and test bench configuration

  • Execute tests that access tools successfully

  • Dissolve mapping references that point to automatically loaded global mapping files

  • Execute the configured global precondition and postcondition package as precondition and postcondition for every executed package

Info

It is possible to connect tools that were not started by the configuration via the tool monitor. For example if the tool shall be started and configured manually before a test case shall be executed from ecu.test.

The described way to start configurations is useful during the creation of configurations and test cases. However in test automation the automatic load and reload of configurations is needed. This can be realized while creating projects in Project editor by using the project step Configuration change.

The configurations specified in the change configuration step will be loaded at this position. In addition it is possible to decide if tools have to be (re-) started or stopped in the lower part of this dialog. The identification of the tools is done via the configured tool aliases from the test bench configuration.

Info

It is not possible to unload a configuration completely via a change configuration step, so that no configuration is active anymore. Therefore an empty configuration has to be created, saved and inserted into the change configuration step.
