What is a test configuration?

In the test configuration (TCF) the test object and tool independent settings can be configured. Therefore exists the Test configuration editor.

The Common tab contains common settings. The tabs Platform, Control Units and Bus access configure the system under test and Report, Execution and Global Constants offer further tool independent options.

For the first start there is a step by step instruction to create a simple test configuration in the How to start? - Tutorial in section Creating a new test configuration.

On the Platform tab the used HiL / SiL models, error simulation and further function access can be selected and configured.

Info

The system identifiers for model, control units, error simulation and bus access can be changed in section System identifier via menu entry Options ‣ Settings.

On the Control units tab different control units can be configured. For every control unit the software interfaces application, diagnostics and debugger can be configured. Therefore the needed ports from the test bench configuration (Application port, Diagnostics port, Debugger port) can be chosen. By selecting such a port the link to the tool that offers the interface is done. Furthermore data sources can be inserted, that are necessary to access the test quantities in the tool.

One or more busses can be configured on the Bus access tab. For every bus a database can be specified that contains the information that are processed in a linked bus system and about the relationship. In addition the configured bus ports can be chosen as Active node, for Manipulation or for Monitoring.

Info

The formats DBC files, Fibex XML files, AUTOSAR XML files and LIN LDF files are supported as bus databases.

On the Global constants tab constants can be defined that can be accessed as long as the test configuration is started. During the test execution the values can be accessed, in addition the values of the test bench configuration can be influenced. Beside the direct input of global constant names and their values, also constant definition files can be specified.

Info

In the Constants definition editor global constants can be defined and saved to a file. Those GCD files can be reused in different test configurations or for parameterization of project steps.

The options of the other tabs can be let unchanged for the first start. Further information can be found in the following chapters:

If the configuration is finished, the test configuration can be saved and selected. Afterwards it can be started in the Configurations window. If ports from a test bench configuration are accessed, the corresponding test bench configuration shall also be started for an unproblematic utilisation.
