Test management¶
Info
The test management interfaces are undergoing a rework. Please contact the support if you would like to use a new test management system.
Information about the interface currently under development can be found at User test management adapter.
ecu.test offers interfaces to various test management systems. These make it possible to export packages and projects into the respective test management system and to update their representations in the test management system when the files have been edited with ecu.test. ecu.test can also import packages and projects from the test management system, or update the files to reflect changes made in the test management system.
Information about existing interfaces can be found at Integrated Adapter.
To connect additional test management systems an Interface for implementing user test management adapters is available.
Terminology¶
ecu.test and the respective test management systems each use their own terms to designate artifacts that correspond to each other. For a start, the following table shows which terms commonly used in ecu.test correspond to which general term (according to ISTQB).
The following description of functionalities supported by ecu.test is based on the general ISTQB terms. The chapters dealing with the individual test management systems then show, which ISTQB terms map to which artifacts of the respective test management system.
ISTQB term |
Artifact in ecu.test |
Explanation |
|---|---|---|
Test case |
package, which is called from the project (possible with a parameter set) |
if parameter sets are used, the package call alone is an high-level test case, which becomes a low-level test case through application of the parameter set. |
Test script, test procedure specification |
Test case within a package |
Packages specify explicitly, which test steps have to be performed in which order. Often, automated execution is possible. |
Test suite |
Project, possibly with a filter applied |
Defines an ordered set of executable test cases. |
Test log |
Test report, possibly together with log files and/or signal recordings |
The test report contains an entry for each test step that has been executed. Additional files deposited in the report folder may contain further details. |
