Merging of TracesΒΆ
If a trace analysis uses multiple trace files for input, one can merge them into a new single MDF4 file. Any time offsets determined by the synchronisation are taken into account during the merge.
This feature can be activated by the option field Trace merge within the tab Signal recordings.
The Mode option allows to select one of the following operating modes:
signal-based: All signals of the respective signal groups are adopted, so that interpreted signals of message-based formats (e.g. ASC) can also be viewed in the resulting trace file even if no database (e.g. bus database) is loaded. The option Record all test quantities is taken into account.
signal-based in general but file-based for MDF4: This option cases MDF4 source traces to be merged as a whole, which usually saves time. However, viewing interpreted signals from MDF4 bus logging then requires a database again.
The field Filename allows the configuration of a filename for the merged trace file. The file extension will be added if necessary. By default, the merged file is stored in the report folder of the respective analysis job. However, it is also possible to specify a relative or absolute path.
