CANway FIU via bus hardware

Hints for the use of the CANway FIU:

The assignment of the pins is done by a XML mapping file of the following schema.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<xs:schema xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:tns="http://www.example.org/NewXMLSchema" elementFormDefault="qualified" version="1.0">
    <xs:element name="CANWAYFIUCONFIG">
        <xs:complexType>
            <xs:sequence>
                <xs:element name="MODULE" type="FiuModuleType" minOccurs="1" maxOccurs="unbounded"/>
            </xs:sequence>
            <xs:attribute name="version" type="xs:string" use="optional"/>
        </xs:complexType>
    </xs:element>

    <xs:complexType name="FiuModuleType">
        <xs:sequence>
            <xs:element name="CANID" type="CanIdType" minOccurs="1" maxOccurs="1"/>
            <xs:element name="PINS" type="PinListType" minOccurs="1" maxOccurs="1"/>
        </xs:sequence>
        <xs:attribute name="name" type="xs:string" use="required"/>
    </xs:complexType>

    <xs:simpleType name="CanIdType">
        <xs:restriction base="xs:string">
            <xs:pattern value="0x[0-9A-Fa-f]+"/>
        </xs:restriction>
    </xs:simpleType>

    <xs:complexType name="PinListType">
        <xs:sequence>
            <xs:element name="PIN" type="PinType" minOccurs="1" maxOccurs="20"/>
        </xs:sequence>
    </xs:complexType>

    <xs:complexType name="PinType">
        <xs:simpleContent>
            <xs:extension base="PinNameType">
                <xs:attribute name="id" type="PinIdType" use="required"/>
            </xs:extension>
        </xs:simpleContent>
    </xs:complexType>

    <xs:simpleType name="PinNameType">
        <xs:restriction base="xs:string">
            <xs:pattern value=".+"/>
        </xs:restriction>
    </xs:simpleType>

    <xs:simpleType name="PinIdType">
        <xs:restriction base="xs:integer">
            <xs:minInclusive value="1"/>
            <xs:maxInclusive value="20"/>
        </xs:restriction>
    </xs:simpleType>
</xs:schema>

Such a configuration can for example look like:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<CANWAYFIUCONFIG xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="CanwayFIU.xsd">
  <MODULE name="Module1">
    <CANID>0x123</CANID>
    <PINS>
      <PIN id="1">Pin One</PIN>
      <PIN id="2">Pin Two</PIN>
      <PIN id="3">Pin Three</PIN>
    </PINS>
  </MODULE>
</CANWAYFIUCONFIG>

Notes for the use:

  • This XML file is conform to the upper XML schema (here referenced by the name CanwayFIU.xsd)

  • A configuration file has the suffix .cxfiucfg (which means “CANway FIU configuration file”)

  • The configuration file has to be specified in the test configuration in the Platform tab

  • The tag CANID is the CAN id of the module. Theoretically 2047 FIU modules can be used at the same time

  • The tag PIN represents the symbolic name of the pin (signal name)

  • The pins will be shown in the data viewer on the Electrical Error Simulation tab

The errors can be added to the test case by using drag and drop. Single errors are supported, e.g. Interrupt, Short-Circuit to ground or battery voltage and pin to pin. Furthermore different errors can be applied at the same time in an EES ErrorSet. Multi pin errors are not supported by the CANway FIU. Pin to pin errors without load are applied according “interrupt first, then short-circuit”. The reconfiguration via broadcast messages is not supported.
