Tool interfaces¶
The ecu.test software consists essentially of two parts. One is the application core itself, the other the tool interfaces.
Tool interfaces (ToolLibs) represent the layer between generic test steps of ecu.test and software and/or hardware interfaces for access to SuT and the test environment. Tool interfaces are used by tool categories for the execution of test cases. So that layer is the basis for running generic test cases in various test environments with hardware and software of different manufacturers.
ecu.test can load tool interfaces locally. This requires that the interfaces to be addressed should be locally installed on the computer. Another possibility of using tool interfaces is a client-server architecture. In that case ecu.test accesses the software on other computers as well.
In order to carry out test cases, the tool interfaces of the peripheral software have to be configured. This is especially done during the creation of test bench configurations. That dialog allows the configuration of peripheral software both installed locally and available on another computer. In order to access the software of a remote computer, Tool Server must be installed there.
In addition to the configuration in the test bench configuration it may be necessary for extended use cases to configure the tool interfaces directly in the “ToolLibs.ini”.
