Templates

Templates provide reusable starting points for projects, packages and analysis packages. If one works with recurring structures, a template can reduce manual setup and help keep conventions consistent.

Template types

Project template

A project template stores a prepared project structure and can be used when creating a new project via File ‣ New.

Package template

A package template stores prepared test step structures and can be used when creating a new package via File ‣ New.

Analysis package template

An analysis package template stores prepared trace analysis content and can be used when creating a new analysis package via File ‣ New ‣ Analysis package.

Create from template

When a new artifact is created via File ‣ New, one can choose either an empty artifact or a template-based artifact, depending on the selected type. The created file can then be adapted to the current test scope while keeping the predefined structure from the template.

Save as template

When a project, package or analysis package is open in the editor, it can be stored as a template via File ‣ Save as template. The template becomes available for future creation workflows and can be reused as a standardized starting point.

Usage in library workspaces

Templates can also be managed in library-oriented workflows. Related concepts for reusable workspace content are described in Library workspaces.
