Signal export (signal recording)¶
ecu.test offers the possibility of freely arranging signals into new signal recordings and export
them as a trace file for further use. For that purpose, signal recording elements (
)
can be inserted into episodes via toolbar or context menu.
Example: Export of all signals into a common MDF4 file.¶
Info
Recording of textual, numerical and boolean values is supported for the formats MDF3, CSV and ASTRACE. In addition, the complex types vector, curve, matrix and map can be exported in the MDF4 format.
The dialog Edit signal recording appears with the following setting possibilities:
Name of signal recording
Option “Use signal identifier”
The signals can be stored under one of the listed identifiers:
Generic signal name
Mapping name
Mapping target
From recording file
If the selected identifier is not defined for a signal, the generic signal name is used instead. Calculated signals are always saved under their generic signal name.
Selection of signals to be exported
Filename
A valid file base name must be given here. ecu.test will generate unique file names from this.
Unique file name generation is performed according to the schema: <report dir>Job_<run number>__<recording number>_filename.<extension>
<run number> corresponds to the “run number” entry in the report.
<recording number> is a running number starting with 1 for every analysis run.
<extension> depends on the selected type of file.
You can also give an absolute file name without extension here. ecu.test will take over this file name and path. If a file with the specified name already exists at the specified location, a sequential number in parentheses is appended to the name. Existing files will not be overwritten.
Type of file
It can be chosen whether to export an MDF4, MDF3, CSV, or an ASTRACE file.
Compress data
Only for MDF4 format. Data within the file can be stored compressed. This reduces the file size considerably.
Info
Signal recordings are also helpful if you want to provide calculated signals as an outgoing signal of a referenced trace analysis. All recorded signals can be reused in the calling trace analysis.
