Media Access TabΒΆ

On the tab Media Access in the test configuration you can define one or more systems for media access that can later be used in the test case. They are shown with a symbol of an infotainment screen. If you want to select a camera or device, you will have to create its ports first in the test bench configuration. For example, image and audio ports are available for the tool tracetronic: Multimedia. You then have to create a new port of the type Image or Audio on the desired tool. After creation, the test bench configuration has to be selected using the button in the top left.

Back in the test configuration, you can then create a new media access device. For each camera or device, one image and one audio port can be configured.

Several options can be set:

Image

  • Port - Here you can select the name of the Image port that you have just created in the test bench configuration. For example, it could be an Image port of the tool connection tracetronic: Multimedia

  • Image folder - This specifies the base path where your masks and reference images are put. It is recommended to place the images next to the corresponding mask. More information about how to create masks can be found here

  • OCR data - Here you can add and remove training data for the optical character recognition features in ecu.test. ecu.test uses the framework Tesseract OCR that requires training data for the specific language and fonts that should be recognized within your images. We recommend reading the documentation of Tesseract OCR for detailed information about this topic. ecu.test deploys some of the training data files uploaded to https://github.com/tesseract-ocr/tessdata_fast by default.

Info

The training data from https://github.com/tesseract-ocr/tessdata_fast results in faster but less accurate results. If recognition results are insufficient it might help to use training data hosted at https://github.com/tesseract-ocr/tessdata or https://github.com/tesseract-ocr/tessdata_best.

If you need to add custom training data files you can either place them in the folder res/tessdata (within the installation path of ecu.test) or use the button select custom OCR data.

Info

The results delivered by the character recognition by Tesseract OCR does not only depend on the training data but also on the order the data has been loaded. This order can be adjusted in the TCF Editor, where the topmost entry will be loaded with the highest priority. Thus, if you experience ecu.test to recognize implausible characters, maybe the given training data or their current order is not appropriate.

Additionally, it is possible to integrate a separate text recognition service via UserPyModules. When implemented successfully it can be selected as a user defined OCR service in the appropriate dropdown.

Audio

With the setting Port you can choose a configured audio port from the selected test bench configuration. For example, it can be an audio port of the tool connection tracetronic: Multimedia. For speech output, a default voice and for speech recognition, a default profile can be set. There is also an option to extend ecu.test with both a user defined voice and a user defined speech recognition (see User defined speech output and User defined speech recognition).
