SpecificsΒΆ

This interface allows manipulation of bus signals and suppression of messages on an FL3X device or FL3X system configured as an RBS and/or gateway.

To force a signal to a specific value, simply write that value to the signal. Other manipulation types are triggered by writing an expression with the following syntax as the raw value. Square brackets mark optional parameters. The full expression must be written as a string, i.e. enclosed in quotation marks.

offset(value: int[, min: int, max: int])

value is added to the original raw signal value. If min and max are provided, the new raw value is clamped to this range.

The offset can also be negative.

Example: "offset(-7)"

factor(value: int[, min: int, max: int])

The original raw signal value is multiplied by value. If min and max are provided, the new raw value is clamped to this range.

A negative factor is not supported.

Example: "factor(3)"

ramp(start: int, end: int, steps: int[, hold: bool[, min: int, max: int]])

Instead of the original raw value, a ramp from start to end is sent in steps increments. If hold is provided and set to True, the last value is held. Otherwise, the ramp repeats continuously. If min and max are provided, the new raw value is clamped to this range.

Negative values are not supported, and steps must not be 0.

Example: "ramp(0, 14, 7)" – outputs 0, 2, 4, …, 14 in sequence and then restarts.

drift(start: int, end: int, steps: int[, hold: bool[, min: int, max: int]])

A ramp (as in ramp) is added to the original raw signal value.

Example: "drift(0, 6, 3, True, 3, 9)" – first adds 0, then 3, then 6 to the signal value, and then keeps the +6 offset. If the resulting value is less than 3, 3 is sent instead. If it is greater than 9, 9 is sent instead.

freeze()

The current signal value is frozen.

blackout()

All signal bits are sent as 0.

factor_phys(factor: float, signal_factor: float, signal_offset: float[, min: int, max: int])

Using signal_factor and signal_offset, the physical value is calculated from the raw value. This physical value is multiplied by factor and then converted back to the new raw value. If min and max are provided, the new raw value is clamped to this range.

Example: "factor_phys(1.2, 0.1, -6.0, 0, 254)" – the raw value to be sent is calculated as follows:

PHYS_orig := 0.1 * RAW_orig - 6.0
PHYS_new := PHYS_orig * 1.2
RAW_new := (PHYS_new + 6.0) / 0.1, as an integer
RAW_send := min(max(0, RAW_new), 254)

To use test case variable values in such an expression, use e.g. the format method of the Python class str: "offset({0}, {1}, {2})".format(variable1, variable2, variable3).

If needed, the values for min, max, signal_factor, and signal_offset can be looked up via the BusBrowser API (GetMinRawValue, GetMaxRawValue, GetLinearCoeffs).

Each manipulation becomes active immediately, replaces any previous manipulation of the same signal (provided it was created with ecu.test and the tool adapter has not been restarted since then), and applies independently of manipulations on other signals.

To revert a single signal manipulation, use the Reset test step. With the tool job StopAllManipulations, all manipulations and message suppressions are stopped (including those created outside the current test case, or even outside ecu.test).

In addition, messages can be suppressed either individually (test step Change PDU timing; activation status only, no cycle time or calculation class) or for all messages of an ECU (by β€œwriting” 0 or 1 to the ECU itself).
