Variable reference

This test step serves to read or write mapping elements. It is not necessary (as in the classic reading steps for model/measuring/bus) to identify the exact variable already in the test specification. Rather, a variable can be entered here which will contain the desired mapping name during the test run. So it can be decided during the test what values should be read or written.

Notes:

  • All elements to be accessed by means of these test steps must exist already as mappings. It is not possible to have direct access by means of these test steps to the databases (a2l, bus database, model). If completely free values are to be read or written there is a possibility to do so via the respective ToolJobs.

  • The test steps of the category “variable reference” are NOT suited for interfaces whose values have to be initialized before the start of tests or measurements (e.g. measuring values in INCA and CANape). Utilization is not possible in this case. However, there may be ToolJobs which can be used as an alternative.

  • The specific target value of the reference is computed during execution of the test steps. It is therefore possible that some information regarding the target value is missing in the test report if there were an error during execution of the respective operation.

  • Since it is only known at runtime of the test execution which variables are to be addressed it is not possible to reset these.
